The Cobb-Wright-Case Mining Company began cutting Plattin Limestone from the outcrops along Hamilton Creek and sold it as Marble. Then the company attacked the massive outcrops of Kimmswick Limestone, first for building blocks and then for industrial and agricultural lime, when it turned out to be to soft for building stone. To process the Kimmswick, the company built kilns, in which to break it down into lime. |
